Whether it is hair on the face, armpits, legs, bikini line, or other body parts, many women and men are intent upon having the hair on their scalp be the only visible hair on their bodies.
Adequate methods for hair removal have long been in demand; long-term hair removal with minimal adverse effects is the ultimate goal.
Depilation affects the part of the hair above the skin's surface. Shaving which is the most common type of hair removal simply cuts hair off at skin level with a razor. Although easy, shaving has short-lived results of a day or two.
Epilation is the removal of the entire hair, including the part below the skin. Methods includes:
Waxing, a very popular method used both at home and a salon, uses a resin-based wax like product to remove the entire hair follicle from the root. Results can last up to 6 weeks.
Sugaring is an age-old method lasting up to six weeks. It uses natural ingredients like lemon, sugar and water to remove the hair follicle from the root. Although a similar process to waxing, sugaring is much gentler to the skin.
Plucking, also known by the more professional term of tweezing, uses tweezers to remove hair one by one, ridding hair up to six weeks. Most commonly used for shaping eyebrows, tweezing is also helpful in removing a stray hair here or there.
Threading hair is an ancient method commonly practiced in Eastern countries, like Egypt and India, but is becoming very popular here in the West. Threading uses a string to remove the entire hair follicle, lasting up to 6 weeks.
There are permanent methods like electrolysis and laser removal which is an effective form of treatment for unwanted body.
Electrolysis is the only method for permanent hair removal. It does require multiple sessions where each follicle is individually treated for about one minute to achieve best possible results, but permanent hair removal isn't 100% guaranteed for everyone.
Laser treatments can help reduce the overall amount of hair, and also make some hairs lighter or finer. Not all hair or skin types can safely receive or benefit from laser hair removal.
Another cheapest, fastest and safest method of removing hair is the hair removal creams. These creams are known as depilatories which have been in use for a very long period of time. There are a lot of creams available in the market and they all come made with different types of materials and ingredients, having different textures and elements. With the wide array of products to choose from, selecting one cream to use can become rather overwhelming.
Hair removal isn't just for women any more. More and more men are hopping on board with the latest grooming trends. The main differences between male and female might be the length of time that each wants to actually remove the unwanted hair and the body parts being treated. While men generally get used to shaving their face daily, women might want to find a longer term solution for facial hair removal. Guys might opt to remove unwanted chest, arm or leg hair for a purpose related to performance while ladies might choose removal on these same body parts for aesthetic or cultural reasons.
All said and done, there's a way to suit everyone's pocket and remedies to tackle disadvantages of any method you choose.
