The raw food diet
The raw food diet is a diet where the foods are consumed in their raw state. Foods are considered to be raw if they have not been exposed to high temperatures above 115 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures that all enzymes and nutrients are left unchanged and intact so that the body is able to absorb them faster.
Benefits
1;-In addition, raw foods contain many antioxidants that help neutralize free radicals and eliminate toxins. According to studies, most age related diseases and common ailments are the result of too many toxins in the body. Thus the raw food diet can help to slow down the aging process by preventing diseases.
2;-One of the advantages you get from practicing a raw diet food is the improvement in your energy level. People that consume no less than 75% of uncooked or unprocessed foods will agree that their energy level improved. If you are consuming a decent amount of white flour products such as breads, cakes, dairy, sugar, and many other cooked foods, then you probably suffer from health problems or a sluggish system.
3;-Other than that, raw diet foods provide a lot of other health benefits such as weight loss, softer skin, clear eye sight, a boost in the level of concentration, rare occurrences of constipation or indigestion, normal bowel movements and a decrease in the risk of serious health problems like diabetes, heart problems and cancer.
4;-Raw food diets consist of small or no saturated fats or folate. They are very high in potassium as well as low in fiber, magnesium, and sodium. They are also very useful detox diets. Different combinations of juices and raw foods can be utilized for colon cleansing, liver cleansing, kidney cleansing and skin cleansing.
5-Another advantage of raw food is that it has digestive enzymes that are usually eliminated during the cooking process. They mostly assist in breaking down the basic forms of the foods that we consume and make the food suitable for consumption for a number of reasons. Aside from that, if the food remains in an unbroken state it will get stored in the body which will also cause more weight gain. For that reason, the existence of digestive enzymes in raw foods is without doubt, a big help too.
Types Of Raw Foods And Their Uses
Natural foods:
These foods are consumed in the form they occur. The only processing required is cleaning to wash off mud and other surface impurities. This category includes fruits, vegetables, flowers, greens, herbs, wild greens etc. Fruits are taken fresh as well as in the form of juice. Similarly vegetables can be taken raw or as salads by slicing them and adding salt, pepper etc. Some other items like spices, flowers, fungi, algae etc. are processed a little to make them delectable. However, they are not to be cooked using heat in any form. Some items under this category are marketed after some primary processing. Dried fruits, nuts, seeds etc. are some examples. Seeds are also first sprouted before eating them to make them more nutritious. Water itself is a natural food and should be consumed in large quantities. Some people erroneously believe that they have good substitutes for water in carbonated drinks, cola, alcoholic drinks etc. Some may even think that water is needed only for diluting concentrates, alcoholic drinks etc! Incidentally, organic wine is also a raw food.
While foods derived from plants are definitely beneficial, we can also include a few other foods under the category of raw foods. Raw fish, raw meat and dairy products come under this category. Some of these items have become an integral part of our diet system and it may be difficult to discard them completely. At least in the initial stages of switching over to this new diet, you can include these items. After some time, you will get a good idea of what is good for you and what is not.
